Let’s talk about the Pixel 7 Pro’s battery life
When the rumors about Google selling the Pixel phones in my country, turned out to be true I couldn’t be happier. I have had the Pixel 4a, Pixel 4a 5G and more recently the Pixel 6a. All of these phones were purchased in Germany or bought as imported models. Since my country, the Netherlands wasn’t officially a place where Pixel phones could be bought I had to go through a lot of hassle when one of my phones was faulty. However since the Netherlands is no longer ignored by the big G this shouldn’t be a problem anymore!
Reviews about Battery life
Reviews of the Pixel 7 line-up have been mostly positive. One of the criticism some reviewers had though was the battery life not being that great. Mostly while being tested against other flagship phones during endurance testing while playing a loop of YouTube videos or other similar tests. Well I have had the Pixel 7 Pro since launch day and had my doubts on these kind of tests from the beginning. I can tell you from my personal experience the Pixel 7 pro lasts me a full day from 7 AM until 12 PM. I am not saying that the Pixel 7 Pro has the best battery life or will outlast the Iphone or whatever im just trying to nuance things a bit here.
Adaptive Battery and AI
A big part of why it’s important not to only look at a battery test is the adaptive battery Android uses these days. This technology looks at the apps you regularly use and which ones you rarely open. Learning about you, the user, the device will put some apps to sleep more often than others or not having them access resources. More and more functions like translating your messages can be done with the AI being powered by the Tensor G2 chip without the need of contacting online resources, this also helps lessen the strain on the battery.
All in all what I am trying to say here is that we shouldn’t all stare ourselves blind on benchmarks and look at daily usage.
